How to write a Jollibee resume

Every resume begins with a framework and the first step in writing your Jollibee resume is understanding what that framework is. Your resume should contain the following elements:

Why do you want to work at Jollibee? This all-important question is the one you should aim to answer throughout your resume. This one-page (and not more than one page unless you are a seasoned veteran in the field) document is your sales pitch for employment. Your best bet is to have a great answer to this question. Did you grow up eating Jollibee? Did your Filipino parents regal you with stories of its famously delicious spaghetti? Do you want to enter the food industry and you know Jollibee is a great starting point? Are you an excellent mentor and manager? Whatever the answer, this is the message you need to impart.

Stick to this recipe for delivering your message:

  • Highlighting achievements beats recording a list of tasks you’ve been responsible for. “Served dozens of customers a day with a smile and efficiency” says a lot more about your work style than “Took and prepared orders at the register.”
  • If you are also applying to McDonald’s or Taco Bell, customize each resume so your prospective employer knows you want their job. Make sure in your Jollibee resume you feature the unique reasons you want that Jollibee crew job.
  • Even high school students looking for after-school work should present a professional image with a well-designed and error-free resume.
  • Applying online on the Jollibee website means you’re entering your information into an ATS, which may screen you out if you don’t understand their filtering systems.
Expert tip

Enhance your chances against the ATS

Applicant tracking systems ( ATS) use algorithms based on keywords and phrases in the job listing to screen for the best resumes. To boost your rankings, tweak your summary and work history sections to echo the ad.

For example: The Jollibee ad for a restaurant supervisor calls for:

  • “1 year of experience as a food or retail industry team leader”
  • “High energy level”
  • “Good communication and interpersonal skills”
  • “Results-oriented, self-driven, fast learner and adaptable”

In your skills section you should, of course, list excellent communication and interpersonal skills. But include keywords in your summary  as well. For example, your summary could read:

Highly energetic manager with 2 years of experience as retail team leader. Improved scheduling through enhanced communication to increase employee morale. Quickly learned new point-of-sales system and mentored others in its use.”

Choosing the right resume format for Jollibee

Jollibee prides itself on warm, friendly service. A great Jollibee resume will reflect those values with a warm, friendly look. That does not mean a resume for Jollibee should not also portray professionalism.

While the most common format for a resume is reverse chronological order, if you are compiling a Jollibee resume with no experience, this format may not be your best choice because it focuses on creating an employment history section beginning with your most recent job and working backward.

Instead, you may want to consider an alternative formats, such as the functional format. This format focuses more on skills and less on employment history. This would also be a good choice for someone re-entering the workforce after a gap or looking to make a lateral career move.

Our resume builder includes templates for all three resume formats available as resume examples.

A Jollibee resume can be a bit more casual because of the company’s image. We suggest one of our modern or creative designs.

Include your contact information

The header of your resume highlights very important information. Make sure all your contact details are easy to find and professional.

  • Full name and title. List your first and last name. Use the title of the role you are pursuing.
  • Professional email address. Use a clean format like firstname.lastname@gmail.com. Don’t use a quirky, unprofessional email address. High school students may use their school address, or create a professional one that will serve you well in your future employment pursuits.
  • Phone number. List a number where you can be readily contacted, with a professional voicemail greeting.
  • Location. List only your city and state. Don’t list street address or zip code. It’s both outdated and unsafe. Note 'Willing to Relocate' here if applicable.

Don’t include:

  • Date of birth. Not necessary, although if you are a teen, make sure you are legally allowed to work in your state or if you need a work permit, and could potentially lead to age discrimination.
  • Personal details. Marital status, social security number, passport number, etc.

Make use of a summary

Every food service employee knows that greeting each customer with a friendly message is job one. It sells the customer on your service and makes them more likely to return. The summary of a resume is also designed as an introduction and sales point.

What do you want Jollibee’s HR personnel to know about you and why you are applying for the job? Whether you’re looking to move up to manager or want to make a few extra dollars after school, you need to introduce yourself and what you will bring to the job in 2-3 high-energy sentences.

To accomplish that, use strong action words such as served, welcomed, managed, scheduled or organized to kick off a description of a success.

A summary is not a repetition of your work history, but a crystallization of the best of you and your work accomplishments. For a Jollibee job, a sentence such as “My fond memories of Saturday family lunches at Jollibee and my customer-service orientation will make me a proud and enthusiastic brand ambassador.”

Choose your description of yourself carefully. Food service requires flexibility, calm during rush times and a lot of energy. Are you someone who can de-escalate a situation with a dissatisfied customer? A manager who keeps crew members happy with consistent scheduling? Make sure you highlight these traits in your summary.

Outline your work experience: show you’re a busy bee

Begin with your current or most recent job and work your way back about 10 years. If you’re entering the job market for the first time, see the section below for the best method of writing a Jollibee resume with no formal experience.

Each bullet item should begin with an action you took, followed by the results you achieved. Eliminate space-wasters such as “responsible for” or “tasked with” and get right to the point. Use data and details to illustrate your successes.

Restaurant work can be repetitive, but avoid static descriptions such as:

  • “Served customers.”
  • “Closed register at end of day.”
  • “Restocked vegetable bins.”

Or, for managers:

  • “Wrote weekly schedule.”
  • “Trained new crew members.”
  • “Handled customer complaints.”

These statements do not differentiate your work from anyone else who has worked a food service job and do not show off the results you achieved.

Try these more detailed and achievement-focused versions:

  • “Welcomed customers and prided myself on always getting special orders correct.”
  • “Balanced register, never being off by more than one or two pennies.”
  • “Ensured availability of fresh produce throughout shift.”

Or, for managers:

  • “Creating staffing efficiencies in weekly schedule resulting in 10% cost savings.”
  • “Oversaw new employee training to ensure adherence to food safety regulations and customer service standards.”
  • “Increased customer satisfaction and return visits through active listening and problem-solving.”

How to write a Jollibee resume with no experience

Many people begin their work lives in a fast food environment and HR department’s understand that. While Jollibee’s job listing says “With work experience, preferred,” there are more ways to demonstrate work experience and skills on your resume than with a previous formal job.

How?

Club activities, sports, babysitting, snow shoveling, lawn-mowing, volunteering—anything that shows you take responsibility for a role and complete it. You are reliable, manage your time and are a self-starter. If you have been a team captain or led an afterschool club, you have proven leadership abilities.

The abilities that you show in work unrelated to the job you want at Jollibee are called transferable skills.

Add any food service, business or other related classes you have taken to your education section to demonstrate foundational job skills.

We also recommend emphasizing your education and skills over your employment history if they are more impressive.

Include the relevant key skills that make you a great Jollibee employee

The skills list comprises your top 5-10 abilities, without any explanation. HR will look at this section first because it quickly says whether you have what they need, but it also tells them what you think are the most important skills for the job.

The best resume skills lists combine hard and soft skills that offer a well-rounded view of your professional abilities and style. Hard skills for a Jollibee employee include money handling, point-of-sales system proficiency, knowledge of food safety and handling regulations and best practices and food preparation.

All customer service workers and manager also need soft skills, or interpersonal skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills are musts.

You can choose from the pre-written skills in our resume builder or write in your own. EIther way, the builder gives you the option of ranking your proficiency level as well.

Here’s what the skills box looks like in our Jollibee resume template.

Adaptable resume skills section example
  • Customer service
  • Cash handling
  • Food preparation
  • Teamwork
  • Time management

The skills list provides a quick guide to your relevant skills, but back up the list with more details throughout your Jollibee resume. For example:

  • Show off your customer service excellence in your employment history section or—if you’ve earned any awards for excellence—in an Accolades section
  • Food safety certification should be listed in your education section
  • Leadership skills should be detailed in your employment history section with an example and quantification.

The job description will give you clues as to which skills you should showcase.

Expert tip

Skills for an entry-level employee

If you haven’t worked in food service before, here are mostly soft skills that you may be able to demonstrate through other work experience.

  • Problem-solving
  • Computer literacy
  • Adaptability
  • Time management
  • Teamwork
  • Initiative
  • Listening
  • Customer service

Detail your education & relevant Jollibee certifications

The education section of a resume for Jollibee is a straightforward listing of your degrees. Jollibee prefers a high school diploma, but no higher education level is necessary. If you do have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, you should list those as well.

Other education-related activities may also be listed here. They include:

  • Training and certifications. Food handling classes, high school chef’s classes, management training or any other coursework that enhances your candidacy.
  • Internships. Especially if you are looking for your first “real” job, any internship shows you know how to function in a work environment.
  • Awards or accolades. Food service employees may earn awards such as “employee of the month” from their companies. These emphasize your excellence on the job.

Consider a hybrid or functional format if your education section is a better showcase for your skills than your employment history section.

Pick the right resume layout and design for a Jollibee resume

The first visual impression you present to Jollibee will be your resume. You will dress more conservatively for your interview than you may have to for work, and you need to apply that same logic to the design and presentation of your resume.

A great resume for any job matches the tone and style of the business while remaining professional and clear with obvious section headings and readable contact information. There’s a fine line between professional and boring, and especially for a light-hearted company culture such as Jollibee’s, you don’t want to veer into the boring.

You can decide whether it’s over the top for you to dab a bit of Jollibee’s red and yellow into your header or as accent colors, but keep it to a minimum. Stick with legible fonts and clean lines, which make reading easier.

We suggest our modern or creative layouts since they better embody Jollibee’s style. All our resume templates are pre-formatted and customizable to make getting that resume to Jollibee that much quicker.
